Foodborne Salmonella enterica, a pathogen of increasing global concern, especially in developing countries, is often associated with animal-derived foods, for instance, dairy products. Ethiopian data on the prevalence of Salmonella in dairy products exhibits significant variability and is typically constrained to a particular region or district. There is, unfortunately, no available data on Salmonella risk factors specifically affecting cow milk and cottage cheese production in Ethiopia. This research sought to establish the presence of Salmonella at various stages of the Ethiopian dairy industry and pinpoint the factors contributing to Salmonella contamination. The study, encompassing the dry season, took place in three Ethiopian regions, namely Oromia, Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples, and Amhara. Milk producers, collectors, processors, and retailers contributed a total of 912 samples. Salmonella testing of samples followed the ISO 6579-1 2008 protocol, subsequently verified by PCR analysis. A survey designed to identify risk factors for Salmonella contamination was undertaken at the same time as sample collection among study participants. Salmonella contamination levels peaked at 197% in raw milk samples during production and climbed to 213% at the collection point. No notable disparity in the frequency of Salmonella contamination was identified among the sampled regions, with a p-value exceeding 0.05. Variations in cottage cheese use were apparent across regions, with Oromia showing the greatest prevalence at 63%. The risk factors observed included the water temperature utilized for cow udder cleansing, the process of combining milk batches, the type of milk containers, the use of refrigeration, and milk filtration. A novel method is introduced for translating US-focused AI impact assessments to nations experiencing various levels of economic advancement. Semantic similarity between US job descriptions and worker skills, derived from surveys in foreign countries, is assessed by our method. The Brynjolfsson et al. (Am Econ Assoc Pap Proc 10843-47, 2018) measure of work activity suitability for machine learning, applied to the US, along with the World Bank's STEP survey for Lao PDR and Viet Nam, forms the basis of our implementation. The central nervous system (CNS) relies on extracellular mechanisms, including brain-derived extracellular vesicles (bdEVs), to orchestrate the intercellular communication between its neural cells. Employing Cre-mediated DNA recombination, we sought to comprehensively study endogenous communication across the brain and peripheral tissues, focusing on the time-dependent functional uptake of bdEV cargo. To understand how functional cargo moves within the brain under normal conditions, we enabled the consistent secretion of physiological levels of neural extracellular vesicles containing Cre mRNA from a specific area of the brain. This was achieved by in situ lentiviral delivery of Cre mRNA to the striatum of Flox-tdTomato Ai9 mice, allowing for the reporting of Cre activity. Physiological levels of endogenous bdEVs facilitated the in vivo transfer of functional events throughout the brain, a process our approach efficiently detected. The entire brain displayed a notable spatial gradient in the persistence of tdTomato expression, increasing by more than ten times over the four months of observation. Beyond that, bdEVs encapsulating Cre mRNA were observed in the bloodstream and extracted from brain tissue, thereby supporting their effective delivery, using a cutting-edge, highly sensitive Nanoluc reporter system. By tracing the experiences of tuberculosis patients, starting from symptom onset and continuing up to one year after treatment, this paper adds to the existing literature. 829 adult patients suffering from drug-susceptible tuberculosis, sourced from the general population and two high-risk groups (urban slum dwellers and tea garden families), were interviewed between February 2019 and February 2021 at the intensive and continuation phases of treatment, as well as one year after treatment. This study used an adapted World Health Organization tuberculosis patient cost survey instrument. The interviews addressed socio-economic conditions, employment status, income, out-of-pocket health expenses, time spent on outpatient care, hospital stays, medication pickups, medical check-ups, extra food requirements, coping mechanisms, treatment efficacy, identification of post-treatment symptoms, and treatment for post-treatment complications or recurring cases.
